We exist because Africa's biggest opportunities go to the people with the best relationships. We built ours over years so our clients don't have to.
Nana Adjei Sarpong grew up in Ghana before getting the opportunity to move to America at a young age. It was a door that most people from where he came from never see open. He walked through it and made the most of every resource on the other side, earning his bachelors degree in the United States before completing his masters in the United Kingdom.
But it was what he learned outside the classroom that shaped everything. From his first sales role in high school through years of building relationships across industries and continents, Nana developed something that can't be taught in a lecture hall: an instinct for creating genuine win win outcomes. Not compromise. Not splitting the difference. Actual value for everyone at the table.
And yet, something never sat right. Because for every opportunity Nana was able to seize, he knew dozens of people back home and across the continent who were sharper, hungrier, and more capable, but who would never get the same chance. Not because they lacked anything. Because the infrastructure, the systems, the pathways to opportunity simply did not exist where they were. That gap between talent and opportunity is what keeps him up at night. It is what powers every early morning and late call.
Ionya was born from that restlessness. Not just as a consultancy, but as a vehicle for building the international connections and infrastructure that African countries need so their brightest people don't have to leave home to survive. They should leave to visit, to explore, to choose. Never because they have no other option.
Today, Nana leads an extraordinary global network built entirely on that same principle: everyone involved should win. It is not a tagline. It is how every relationship that powers Ionya was built, and it is how every one will continue to be.
The name draws from Iona, a small island off the coast of Scotland that became one of history's most unlikely success stories. In the 6th century, a handful of people on that remote island transformed entire regions of Britain and Europe. Not through force or extraction, but through something far more powerful: they built lasting relationships, strengthened local communities, and created systems that were designed to outlast the people who built them.
Fourteen centuries later, that pattern still works. Build rather than extract. Strengthen rather than exploit. Create systems that serve generations rather than quarters. Ionya carries that principle into every engagement, every relationship, every deal. The company is not here for quick transactions. It is here to build infrastructure, connections, and opportunities that create lasting prosperity for everyone involved.
Every engagement should leave communities, partners, and markets stronger than we found them. We choose clients and projects that create lasting value, not just short term returns.
The entire Ionya network has been built on mutually beneficial relationships. If a deal does not work for everyone at the table, it does not work for us. This is how trust is built and sustained.
We build lasting strategic partnerships, not one off consulting engagements. Every relationship in our network has been developed over years of genuine trust and delivered results.
If we can't help, we will say so. If a market is not right for your business, we will tell you. If an opportunity carries risks, you will hear about them before you invest.
We partner with companies that are serious about building sustainable operations, not those looking for a quick entry and exit. African markets reward patience, persistence, and commitment.
We don't produce reports that sit on shelves. We build relationships, solve problems, source deals, and make things happen on the ground. Results, not documents.
We start from our established Ghana base and build networks wherever our clients need us. If we can't do it, we will tell you honestly.
Our primary base of operations with deep relationships across government, industry, and business. Direct access to decision makers across all seven of our target sectors, from energy and healthcare to agriculture and infrastructure.
Strong networks with active sourcing capabilities across multiple industries. Proper risk assessment for every opportunity we present.
When clients need access to a new market, we research it, build the networks, and deliver. If it is not feasible, we say so.
The best way to understand what Ionya can do for you is a conversation. No pitch, no pressure, just an honest discussion about your Africa ambitions.
